RA MoD: Azerbaijan launched diversionary attack
On June 4, the Azerbaijani side grossly violated the ceasefire along the northeastern part of the Contact Line between Armenian and Azerbaijani armed forces, trying to intrude into the villages of Berdavan and Chnari in Tavush province.
The Armenian side was quick enough to halt the enemy's advancement. Thanks to the drastic measures and courageous actions of Armenian soldiers, the enemy retreated, sustaining losses.
Armenian servicemen Hrach Sargsyan, Zohrab Balabekyan and Karen Davtyan were killed in the result of Azerbaijan's subversive act. Another five servicemen were injured.
RA Prosecutor General and a special group of the RA Defence Ministry have left for the scene.
The RA Armed Forces continues to control the situation along the Contact Line, taking adequate measures.
The Defence Ministry expresses profound regret over the incident and sympathizes with the families of the victims.
An investigation is underway.
