The Armenian police ignored hundreds of reports on electoral fraud, the iditord.org initiative group said in a statement on Thursday.

In reply to the organization, the police today said that during the pre- and post-election periods they were continually checking various reports received by the iditord.org website, ordinary citizens and media.

"On May 6, election day, the police posted on its official website explanation for at least 50 fraud claims. It is due to mention that in many cases, we had to reject claims since they were not compliant with reality," said the police.

The police investigated those fraud reports which related to irregularities on voters' lists or contained characteristics of offense.

"There were cases when iditord.org said names of dead people were found on the voter list, while, in fact, these were real voters. Besides, iditord.org also reported about an incident at N 6/10 polling station, saying the police officers did not intervene in the brawl between voters and commission members. The police found out that no incident was recorded in the given polling station and the commission continued its work throughout the day," the police said, adding that they find it inexpedient to respond to the unverified information of iditord.org
