Rector of Yerevan State Linguistic University after V. Brusov, S. Zolyan has submitted a written notice in response to decree N 58-A1 of RA Minister of Education and Science Armen Ashotyan on suspending Zolyan's powers as Rector of Yerevan State Linguistic University after V. Brusov dated 17 April 2012.

"Dear Mr. Ashotyan,

Guided by Article 15 (5) of the RA law "On State Non-Commercial Organizations", it is my duty to not fulfill your decree N 58-A1 (17 April 2012) contradicting the legislation and will continue to serve as rector of Yerevan State Linguistic University.

I call on you to carefully read Articles 5 and 83.5 of the RA Constitution, as well as the laws regulating universities, and I remind you that in contrast to your desire and notion, according to Article 15 (4) of the RA law "On Higher and Post-Graduate Vocational Education" and the 37th Point of Resolution N 1929-N of the RA Government dated 31 October 2002, the Rector of Yerevan State Linguistic University is elected by the YSLU Council, and the results of the vote are confirmed by the adoption of a corresponding decision of the RA Government. Thus, I advise you to be guided by the demands stated in Article 70 of the RA law "On Legal Acts" in order to avoid taking illegal steps in the future.

The clarifications were given in my notice N SZ01/162-12 dated 16 April 2012 yesterday, as well as in the decision taken during the YSLU Academic Council's special wide-format session, which will be sent to you right after it is completely modified.

If you disagree, you can dispute this notice in court.
Rector, Professor Stepan Zolyan"

The Rector of YSLU will participate in the scientific conference on "Linguistic Diversity in Society, The Labor Market and Politics: New Challenges of Teaching at Higher Educational Institutions" in the Federal Republic of Germany on 18-20 April and will give a speech entitled "The Perspectives of Linguistic Education in Armenia", reports the YSLU press serice.

According to "A1+"'s sources, YSLU students will hold a protest in front of the Ministry of Education and Science tomorrow.
