“Karabakh” Committee member to commit suicide?
Founding member of the "Karabakh" Committee, representative of the government's operative headquarters in 1990-91, member of the National Council of Artsakh, former head of the "Pyunik" football team Gagik Safaryan has been in prison since last year. His trial is being held at the court of general jurisdiction of the Kentron and Nork-Marash districts, but prosecutor Armen Boshnaghyan has petitioned with the demand for a 6-year sentencing.
On 24 August 2009, National Security Service officials arrested Safaryan for treachery.
Safaryan says if he is not released, he won't be able to resist the persecutions against him and will take an extreme step, that is, suicide.
