The International Days of Francophonie have kicked off. The French and Swiss Ambassadors to Armenia declared the opening of the events of Francophonie.

"The spring of Francophonie can be viewed as the months of March, April and May," said French Ambassador to Armenia Henri Renaut during a press conference at the French Embassy in Armenia.

Armenia joined the Francophonie International Organization in 2004. Armenia started as an observer, and in 2008, it was granted the status of an associated member of the organization. Francophonie is celebrated with events dedicated to the French language and culture.

The events will be held at the National Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet after Alexander Spendiaryan, as well as art and music schools. There will also be festivals, exhibitions, a book presentation, as well as screenings of feature, educational and children's films and animated films in French.

The tradition of organizing events dedicated to the French language and culture was established more than 40 years ago when the prototype of the current Francophonie International Organization was established in Niame in 1970, that is, the association for cultural and technical cooperation. The Day of Francophonie was set on March 20.
