“Presses seized the building”
The media building in Yerevan is in the focus of the department for state property administration. The department representatives have discovered several violations of leased territories, and this mainly refers to the media.
"The media building is foreseen for the development of press and it should serve its goal. We have territories that are used for free or areas that have been leased by different presses that aren't using those areas wisely," Head of the Department for State Property Administration adjunct to the RA Government Arman Sahakyan told "A1+".
According to Sahakyan, several media outlets have tried to benefit from their territories and have leased them to another organization.
"If the government has given something for free, that is a violation of the law. There are territories that haven't even been given to the presses, but they have been seized."
Out of the 50-60 presses located in this building, 80 percent of them will not have contracts in May. After that, the state property administration will adopt a new working style."
"The Ministry of Culture is currently developing the standards that a media outlet should have to use the territory for free," said the Head of the State Property Administration Department adjunct to the RA Government.
Sahakyan said what amazed him was that some areas of the building were not used for their purposes.
Sahakyan had trouble saying how much damage had been caused to the state, but he did mention that the figures had to be submitted to the Ministry of Urban Development.
