Chinese education is attractive

RA Minister of Education and Science Armen Ashotyan today received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to Armenia Tian Chan Chun. Greeting the guest, Ashotyan mentioned that the cooperation between Armenia and China in the sphere of education is not at the level of the economic and political relations established between both countries.

"The powerful pace of China's advancement, as well as the country's history and culture are attractive for Armenia's educational system," Ashotyan mentioned.

The Minister underlined that the Armenian government viewed education as a primary sphere and attached importance to the implementation of new Armenian-Chinese educational initiatives. The Minister presented the reforms in Armenia's educational sphere and in this context, expressed willingness to establish a high school for advanced Chinese language instruction in Armenia and include Chinese as a foreign language in the state curriculum.

During the meeting, issues related to joint Armenian-Chinese projects in the sphere of higher education were also discussed. The sides attached importance to the enlargement of student mobility and mutual exchange programs, as well as the issue of creating fully legal grounds for educational qualifications and mutual recognition of documents.
