The Armenian Foreign Ministry is hopeful that the 60 citizens stranded at Upper Lars checkpoint will be back to Armenia by Tuesday.

"The cleaning of the roadway almost completed on Sunday. However, yesterday's heavy snow again blocked the road, causing additional inconveniences," Ministry's spokesman Tigran Balayan said citing Georgian sources.

About 60 citizens of Armenia have been waiting at the checkpoint on the Armenia-Georgia border for a week, in an attempt to enter Armenia.

Talking to A1+ driver Armen Mamulyan expressed doubt that the road might become trafficable today. Fifteen passenger vehicles are waiting at the checkpoint at present. The stranded citizens have hired houses in Stepantsminda, a small town in the Mtskheta-Mtianeti region of north-eastern Georgia.
