Prosecutor receives Prescott
RA Prosecutor General Aghvan Hovsepyan today received the delegation led by Co-Rapporteur of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe John Prescott. Among participants of the meeting were Head of the RA Special Investigative Service Andranik Mirzoyan and other officials.
Greeting the guests, the RA Prosecutor General attached importance to the role of the Council of Europe in improving the mechanisms for ensuring the release of activities of the RA Prosecutor's Office and the development of the policy on information. John Prescott attached importance to the provision of balanced information on the criminal procedure and gaining confidence of equality.
At the guest's request, the RA Prosecutor General touched upon the results of the preliminary investigation into the case in relation to the mass disturbances held on 1-2 March in Yerevan, presented the issues facing the preliminary inquiry body and the steps being taken.
Hovsepyan informed that the preliminary inquiry body has released an informative communiqué regarding the activities and has posted it on the Internet to ensure access to all interested persons and affirm that the preliminary inquiry body will continue to provide the public with information about the results of the preliminary inquiry.
