Cashier commits suicide by drinking essence
Andranik Manukyan, a senior cashier at Haypost's Kotayk branch, was hospitalized on Thursday with intoxication.
On arriving at the scene, the police task force learnt that on the same day Manukyan had drunk three liters of vinegar essence under a tree on Abovyan-Zhraberd roadway in an attempt to end his life. On the same day, at 4:00 p.m. Manukyan was rushed to the Armenia medical center were he died in the evening without regaining consciousness.
The director of Haypost's Kotayk branch informed the police yesterday that at 2:30 p.m. he had received a call from the medical center which said that Manukyan was in grave condition. A special commission was set up after the report which conducted a checkup and found out that over 17,113,474 drams were missing from the cash. The sum was believed to have been embezzled by Manukyan.
The police department of Kotayk region has instituted a criminal proceeding under Article 176 .3 of the Criminal Code.
