There are only three Russian television stations providing coverage of the upcoming Russian presidential elections, including OPT (ORT), PTP (RTR) and HTB (NTV).

"Аргументы Недели" (Argumenti Nedeli) writes that those television companies are told what to show and what not to show.

According to the same source, the heads of television companies are called to the Kremlin at least twice a week to deliver reports on the election campaign.

According to the heads of television companies working for the state apparatus, they have already used up all their resources, and television is no longer of use for raising the reputation of the well-known party or figure or presenting them as influential, writes "Aргументы Недели" (Argumenti Nedeli).

These days, television can no longer ensure the effective outcome of the candidates' elections due to the lack of a target audience.

The specialized cable and television channels should also be involved in the campaign as well, say the heads of leading Russian television companies. They say their viewers, especially those of OPT are pensioners and uneducated people. "The youth don't watch that channel at all."

The same goes for PTP, and HTB is in a more or less good state. However, even that can't ensure a 100 percent target audience interested in the elections.
