Elections at Assembly on October 19
At the invitation of the President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union and the Chairs of the Council of Nations of the Swiss Federation and the Council of States, the delegation led by Chairman of the RA National Assembly Hovik Abrahamyan participated in the 125th assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union in Bern.
Members of the NA delegation, including Heghine Bisharyan, Anahit Bakhshyan and Mikayel Vardanyan participated in the session of the heads of the Inter-Parliamentary Union. During the session, the sides discussed IPU integration, the IPU's plan in 2012 and the budget draft, the strategy for 2012-2017 and other issues.
On the same day, the Eurasia geopolitical group of the Inter-Parliamentary Union's Assembly held a session headed by member of the NA delegation Mikayel Vardanyan. During the session, candidates running for president of the Inter-Parliamentary Union presented their plans to Mrs. Nurhayati Ali Asegaf of the Indonesian parliament and Abdelvahad Rad of the Moroccan parliament. Let us mention that the elections for president of the Inter-Parliamentary Union will take place during the Assembly's plenary session on October 19.
