Levon Aronian drops to 5th place at Grand Slam Final Masters
Armenian Grandmaster Levon Aronian lost to U.S. Hukaru Nakamura in round 8 of the Grand Slam Final Masters going on in São Paulo, Brazil.
Viswanathan Anand of India tied his game against Vasili Ivanchuk of Ukraine, while Magnus Carlsen of Norway scored a victory over Francisco Vallejo Pons of Spain.
After the 8th round, Ivanchuk keeps the lead with 14 points, followed by Nakamura and Carlsen, who have 11 points. Anand comes the 4th with 9 points.
After the defeat, the Armenian GM dropped to the 5th place with 8 points.
In round 9, Aronian will face Anand.
