S. Sargsyan: "We have no other road"
On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of independence of the Republic of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan today held a reception at Karen Demirchyan Sport-Concert Complex with the participation of representatives of the social and economic spheres, as well as territorial administration and local self-government bodies.
"The trials that our country has faced and still faces are very often the result of destabilization abroad, including the Karabakh conflict, Armenia's economic blokade, the energy crisis, war with the neighboring country, the global financial-economic crisis and more. These and many other challenges are first and foremost the result of regional and international developments that are strictly unfavorable for our country, and they can repeat," said Serzh Sargsyan in his congratulatory message.
Sargsyan said Armenia is currently trying to eliminate the negative influence that the potential destabilization in the region and the world has on the country's society, politics and economy.
"We have no other road. We must continue to fight against the effects, but the reasons for our hardships will continue to lead to new challenges for our future generations.
This issue can be solved by integrating value systems that are the same as ours and by reinforcing our defense systems. We have developed so much as a state and a society that we can allow ourselves to speak of the reinforcement of bigger and more sustainable systems. The achievements of the past twenty years truly give us that opportunity."
