Businessmen appeal to court
Businessmen who have been doing business in the underground passageway at Abovyan-Koryun intersection in Yerevan filed an appeal to the RA Administrative Court with an appeal against Yerevan Municipality and to ensure the petition for that appeal. Today it will be announced whether the appeal has been accepted as a proceeding or not.
The businessmen demand considering the municipality's decision on selling the mentioned passageway through an auction illegitimate. They say the municipality's decision violates several laws, including certain articles of the RA Land Code.
In addition to the court, the businessmen have also appealed to Serzh Sargsyan to suspend "that illegitimate tender to save numerous families from being deprived of the right to earn a living". According to the authors of the appeal, the municipality's decision will deprive nearly 300 families of receiving income.
"If the municipality has decided to sell the mentioned passageway through an auction, it is obliged to take into account that most of the entities have been working at that passageway for over 25 years and make a living with that. If the municipality is placing the issue of alienation, it must first be placed in front of the entities. For the most part, with that step, which is called a tender, the municipality is making an attempt to steal people's entities and give them to others," as stated in the petition.
The businessmen are obliged to be in charge of cleaning, organizing the passageway and other issues.
