Armenia is world champion
After tying the match with Ukraine in the 9th final round of the world chess team championship, the Armenian chess team won first place and was proclaimed the world champion for the first time ever.
All four matches (Vasili Ivanchuk-Levon Aronyan, Sergey Movsesyan-Pavel Elyanov, Zakhar Efimenko-Vladimir Hakobyan, Gabriel Sargsyan-Alexander Moiseenko) were tied. The Armenian team scored 14 points and became inaccessible for the teams from China and Ukraine.
The other matches of the 9th round of the world team championship continue in China, and the final results will be clear later.
