Release of prisoners continues
As of July 15, 533 prisoners have been released under a general amnesty declared by the Armenian authorities in May, 2011. Sentences of 283 prisoners have been shortened, reports the Department of Penitentiary Institutions of the Ministry of Justice.

With a vote 91 to 0, the National Assembly approved in May President Serzh Sargsyan's proposal to announce an amnesty on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of Armenia's independence.
