Catholicos of All Armenians meets St. Petersburg Governor
The head of the Armenian Apostolic Church, Catholicos Karekin II, has met with Governor of Saint Petersburg Valentina Matviyenko in Russia's northern city of St. Petersburg.
Valentina Matviyenko highly assessed the great contribution of the Armenian spiritual leader to the strengthening of friendly relations between the two peoples, and highlighted the role of the Armenian community in the life of Saint Petersburg.
She also stressed the importance of the Church in the society, underlining the significance of spiritual and moral upbringing of young generations.
Karekin II and Valentina Matviyenko also discussed the fraternal relations between Russian Orthodox and Armenian Apostolic Churches and the fruitful cooperation between the two countries.
Karekin II is in St. Petersburg to attend events dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the local Armenian community.
