Sargsyan hopes
Serzh Sargsyan today received Special Representative of the NATO Secretary General for the South Caucasus and Central Asia, James Appathura.
The president congratulated James Appathura on assuming the position of the Special Representative of the NATO Secretary General, expressing hope that he would contribute to reinforcement of Armenia-NATO relations.
In the context of the mutually favorable cooperation with NATO, Serzh Sargsyan attached importance to the effective implementation of the Armenia-NATO Individual Partnership Action Plan (IPAP) and voiced hope that the new Armenia-NATO 2011-2012 IPAP program would soon be confirmed to allow the increase to a new qualitative level of partnership.
The NATO Special Representative mentioned that the Secretary General had assigned him to deepen the already high-level cooperation and that he intended to reach that during his term. On behalf of NATO, he expressed special words of gratitude for the participation of the Armenian armed forces in NATO's operations in Afghanistan and Kosovo.
James Appathura highly appreciated the RA President's enterprising steps aimed at normalizing political relations with neighboring countries and continuously implementing reforms.
The interlocutors discussed the results of the latest meeting in Kazan and exchanged views on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict resolution.
