Azote bioxide exceeded by 1.5 times
The public relations department of the RA Ministry of Nature Protection has provided a notice on "The ecological state of the air in the atmosphere in Yerevan on 19-20 April 2011".
According to the notice, based on data provided by the automatic station allocated in Arabkir district of Yerevan, the average concentrations of sulfuric bioxide and carbon monoxide in the atmosphere have been viewed as permissible according to norms.
"The contents of bioxide in azote determined by the real time have exceeded the permitted limit by nearly 1.5 times (concentration made up 0.062 mg/m3). Such content of azote bioxide is always viewed in the atmosphere in the city.
Based on information from automatic devices, compared to previous days, at midday on April 19 and 20 there were no real changes in sulfuric bioxide, azote oxide and carbon monoxide concentrations.
On April 18, the permissible norm for average concentration of dust in the air exceeded nearly 1.7 times (concentration made up 0.26 mg/m3, average daily norm 0.15 mg/m3). On April 19 from 13:00 to April 20 at 13:00, the content of dust in the air did not change and was viewed 1.8 times higher than the norm (concentration was 0.28 mg/m3).
Such contents of dust and azote bioxide are usually viewed in the atmosphere within a couple of days and that is characteristic of the city's general ecological state.
On April 19 and 20, compared to previous days, the composition of the atmosphere in Yerevan didn't really change and the content of the main components was part of the value of concentration that is characteristic of air in the city."
Let us remind that the high air pollution in the city is considered when the content of a given substanace exceeds the permissible limited norm in the atmosphere by 10 or more times and extremely high pollution is considered when the content of the given substance exceeds permissible limited norm by 20-29 times (when that level is maintained for more than 2 days), 30-49 times (when that level is maintained for over 8 hours) or 50 and more times.
