World Junior Chess Championship – 2011 to be held in India

The World Junior Chess Championship - 2011 will be held in the south Indian city of Chennai from August 1 to 16, FIDE announced on Wednesday.

The championships will be played in 13 rounds, Swiss System, in accordance with FIDE regulations.

Applications are accepted till July 1.

Chennai has a rich legacy in chess and has produced many well-known chess players, the most notable of them being Vishwanathan Anand, the current World Chess Champion, and Indian Grandmaster Manuel Aaron.
