Armenian GMs participate in tournament in Wijk Aan Zee
The traditional Corus Chess Tournament kicks off in Wijk Aan Zee, Netherlands, on January 15. Starting 2011, the tournament is renamed to Tata Steel Chess.
Armenian grandmasters Levon Aronian and Gabriel Sargissian participate in the tournament. Gabriel Sargissian will compete in the B group, while Aronian in the group of best chess players
The traditional sports event features the World Champion Viswanathan Anand (India), Vladimir Kramnik (Russia), Magnus Carlsen (Norway), Alexander Grischuk (Russia), Ian Nepomniachtchi (Russia), Hikaru Nakamura (USA), Ruslan Ponomariov (Ikraine), Wang Hao (China), Alexey Shirov (Spain), Maxime Vachier-Lagrave (France), Anish Giri (Netherlands), Jan Smeets (Netherlands), Erwin l'Ami (Netherlands).
The format of Tata Steel Chess will be preserved. The winners will be known on January 30.
Magnus Carlsen was named the winner of Corus Chess Tournament in 2010 after gaining 8,5 points out of possible 13.
