Spain responded
Spanish football fans are very unsatisfied with the selection of the best football player of 2010, despite the fact that Argentinean attacker for the "Barcelona" team Lionel Messi was recognized as the year's best player based on results of a survey conducted by FIFA and the famous "Frans Futbol" magazine.
"Two giants and one anti-Spanish"-this was the headline on the Spanish "Marca" sport daily today. Based on the latter's survey results, 68.2% of Spanish football fans say Lionel Messi didn't deserve that title this year. The daily goes on to state that the Argentinean player was recognized the best due to votes from chief coaches of national teams and not the presses (formerly FIFA and "Frans Futbol").
As far as FIFA President Zep Blater is concerned, "Marca" views him as an anti-Spanish since his organization entrusted Russia for the 2018 world football championship and not Spain.
