Armenian weightlifter Arayik Mirzoyan scored a gold medal in the European Junior and Under 23 Weightlifting Championships in Cyprus.

Mirzoyan was recognized as the best in the 77 kg weight category. In the biathlon Arayik Mirzoyan lifted 341 kg (155 + 186). Coming in at second was Aghasi Aghasyan who fell behind his fellow teammate by 5 kilograms and exceeded bronze medal winner Semih Yaghshi of Turkey with 11 kilograms.
