Israel Hakopkokhyan is 50 years old
Today marked famous Armenian boxer Israel Hakopkokhyan's 50th anniversary.
The multiple world and European champion told "A1+"'s sports journalist that he is surprised by the gift from his employees at the "Working Reserves" Sport Union boxing school. "I have never scored such a beautiful medal like the one they gave me on my birthday," said Hakopkokhyan.
Israel Hakopkokhyan truly has a rich collection of medals. He is a three-time European champion (1985, 1989 and 1991), a five-time USSR champion, world championship silver medal winner, winner of the 1983 USSR People's Spartakiad, the 1986 Moscow and 1990 Seattle Good Will Games and a World Cup Winner of 1985. Finally, Israel Hakopkokhyan is the first Armenian boxer who scored the world champion title in 1989 (followed by Nshan Munchyan in 1993). Hakopkokhyan is one of the former USSR boxers with the most titles and has held 336 duels throughout his career.
