Nearly 6,000 male and female athletes from 71 countries of the former British Empire participated in the 19th Commonwealth Games which ended in the Indian capital of Delhi.
The Australian players scored the most medals (174), including 74 gold medals. England came in second with 142 medals (37 gold), followed by India with 101 medals (38 gold).
It should be mentioned that the participants of the games were rather displeased with the organizers. As reported by foreign presses, the bathrooms were in poor conditions, the tickets obtained online had not been delivered to those who ordered them and the tournaments often ended with delays due to problems with transportation. In addition, there were many swimmers with poisoning.
