Future of chess in Ajaria

The European Junior Chess Championship kicked off in the Ajarian capital of Batumi.
Participating in the championship will be 700 junior chess players from 34 countries. The tournaments will be held in 6 age groups (8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18) through the Swiss procedure.
Representing Armenia in the championship will be 47 chess players and the youngest of them are 8-year old Mariam Babayan and Shant Sargsyan. Mariam Babayan won in the first round, while Shant Sargsyan tied the match.
