First gold medal
The Greco-Romano wrestlers ended the World Youth Wrestling Championship held in the Hungarian capital of Budapest.
Armenia's wrestlers scored the first gold medal on the second day of the competitions. Artur Alexanyan (84 kg weight category) was declared world champion. He passed all the initial stages and won his South Korean opponent Si Lee 5:0 and 2:0 in the final round.
Armenia's other representatives, including Narek Khachatryan ( 55 kg), Gevorg Sahakyan (66 kg) and Vachik Yeghiazaryan (120 kg) didn't perform well and were left out the struggle.
Armenia's Greco-Romano youth wrestling team scored two medals in Budapest (Alexan Mikaelyan (60 kg) had scored a bronze medal yesterday).
Now it is the freestyle wrestlers to step up to the arena and there will also be 8 athletes from Armenia.
