Armenian chess players sustain defeat in the USA

Of three Armenian chess players participating in the U.S. Chess Championship 2010 in Saint Louis, only Varuzhan Akobian performed successfully gaining three points from possible five.

In the 5th round, Akobian suffered a defeat by Alexander Onishchuk (USA) and scored 7th among the 24 participants.

In the 6th round, Akobian will face U.S. GM Alex Yermolinsky.

The other two Armenian chess players also sustained defeats in the 5th round.

With 1,5 points, Melikset Khachikian and Levon Altunian out of the struggle for champion's title.
