Ashot Danielyan becomes European champion
Armenian sambo team performed excellently at the European Sambo Championship going on in Minsk, Belarus, with six athletes earning medals.
On the first day of the championship, Armenia's Ruzanna Sargsyan (48kg) and Tigran Kirakosyan (52kg) won bronze medals. Vahan Vardanyan (57kg) won bronze on the second day.
In a combat sambo discipline on May 16, Vachik Vardanyan (68kg) and Artak Tsatinyan (90kg) took silver and bronze medals respectively, while Ashot Danielyan (74kg) won gold.
