Levon Aronian ranks 3rd in Linares chess tournament
Armenian GM Levon Aronian drew with Veselin Topalov of Bulgaria in the eighth round of Linares chess tournament in Spain.
At the beginning of the game Aronian appeared in an awkward situation because of his uncertainty. Anyway, he was able to get out of the situation and tie the game.
In the same round, Alexander Grischuk (Russia) beat Vugar Gashimov (Azerbaijan). The game Francisco Vallejo Pons -Boris Gelfand ended in a draw.
After the eighth round Veselin Topalov continues to top the standings with 5,5 points. Grischuk comes secnd with 4,5 points followed by Aronian - 4 points.
In the ninth round Levon Aronian will play vs. Boris Gelfand.
