Was air crash caused by fire?
Thirty-five Armenians were reportedly on board the Tu 154 flying from Tehran to Yerevan.
There were six Armenian citizens on board - Ashot Nersisian, Arthur Grigorian, Karine Margarian, Ara Simonian, Grigor Barseghian and Suren Soghomonian. The last two Armenians worked in Caspian Airlines Company as the best technicians.
The other 29 Armenian passengers had Iranian citizenship.
"We cannot speak of the causes unless the black box is found," Deputy Head of the Armenian Chief Aviation, Arsen Poghosian, told a press conference today.
"The plane is said to have fallen down near Gazvin. There are a few airports near the city and it is not excluded that the crew was attempting to land. The plane took off at 12.02 and was scheduled to land in Armenia at 12.52. At 12.48 the Iranian side informed us that the plane had been lost sight of," said Arsen Poghosian.
"It is quite possible as a crew can do nothing if a fire breaks out in the engine," said Serob Karapetian, a senior representative of the Aviation.
Caspian Airlines makes 13 flights from Tehran a week. The crashed plane was to take 43 passengers to Iran.
