RESTRICTIONS ON THE ADVERTISEMENT OF MEDICINE
Support A1+!Human health and life mean nothing in the advertisement market in Armenia. This has been proved during the last 10 years. «Even people who don't have medical education advertise medicine and claim that they cure everything», said Barunak Zelveyan, president of the Armenian Doctors' Association. And this happens despite the Law on Advertisements which was adopted 10 years ago.
The Association found out that during the last ten years no organization has applied to get license in order to advertise medicine: thus, what is going on in the market is simply illegal. Nevertheless, according to the November 2 decision, a new order has been established of the organization of advertisements of medicine.
According to the Government decision, the video must give information about the company producing the pills, the number of the license, and proof about the registration of the medicine. Besides, no videos are allowed to state that the medicine can be use without doctor's prescription, that it has not side effects.
Nevertheless, the order makes no note of the punishments in case it is not followed. As for the fact that not all the TV Companies are aware of the law, according to the members of the Armenian Doctors' Association, «Ignorance of law is no excuse».
