KILIKIA TO RETURN HOME IN A YEAR
Support A1+!On May 9 Kilikia ship will start its second voyage around Europe. It is to visit 30 ports and stop in Amsterdam.
Last year the Armenian ship visited 23 ports on Europe and Asia. In the words of Captain Karen Balayan, the crew is going to visit all the states, which had ties with Kilikian Armenia in the Middle Ages. Ayas Club of Marine Investigations is celebrating its 20-th birthday this year. The members of this club built the first ship on the model of a Kilikian vessel.
According to Captain Balayan, they need $120-130 thousand for the second voyage. The Armenian government promised to allocate a part of the sum. Armenian communities of France and UK also promised to render assistance.
Kilikia will return to the homeland in 2006. It may serve as a promenade ship in Lake Sevan.
