Armenian environment minister Vardan Ayvazyan, speaking at a news conference Friday, said the country’s top environmental concern is Sevan’s National Park and the lake’s waters levels.

He confirmed the fact that white fish number in the lake became three times lower for the last decade.

At the same time, the minister noted with satisfaction that pouching fell to the lowest rate.

He says the ministry intends to add another 30 million drams to the 10 million the 2005 state budget targeted for increasing fish number.

The ministry’s second biggest worry is air pollution, Ayvazyan said and put great emphasis upon creation of mechanisms of air pollution prevention.
