Armenian President Robert Kocharyan has today answered the questions of some “Golos Armenii” readers. Here we represent a part of them.

Mr President, why do some persons in the Government staff having staged corruption struggle, possess luxurious villas and expensive cars, including serving ones? If our state is so poor, why does Finance and Economy Minister purchase a serving car of $ 70.000? It was written about in newspapers and spoken of from Parliament rostrum.

-A year ago a decision on practice for registration of officials’ income was legislatively made. So, since the point is on officials having luxurious private residences and cars, registration enables to point to lawfulness of them. I don’t think that poverty is to be an integral component of an official. The matter is to be considered within legality of those revenues.

As regards the serving cars I am not the supporter of outdated models to be used as serving cars as they cost much to maintain. But I think it would be wiser to be more modest in this case.

-Mr President, do the Opposition statements saying the mediators influence on you, forcing to sign the settlement version under which NKR will lose a part of its territory, not winning a status or security guarantees instead, correspond to the truth?.

-The negotiation format and the methodology, which now acts in the talk process, don’t suppose the pressure the Opposition speaks about. Co-chairs and the leaders of the countries represented as co-chairs of Minsk Group have announced for many times that they are ready to assist the conflict settlement but the conflicting parts are to make the decision.

For the time being the settlement formula and the methodology haven’t changed. I think that Opposition longs for such pressure. Probably, Opposition foresees realization of its plans for coming to power through the atmosphere, which might arise as a result of pressure. I announce that the situation is qualitatively quite another. Opposition would better get prepared for the coming elections instead of raffling.

- Mr President, you have promised to express your own point of view over October 27 case investigation and trial after it ends. It is now over and we wonder what you will say.

The case hearing was over in the First Instance Court and it is at present before the Review Court. I will certainly say what I think about it but only after the case consideration is over in all the court instances.
