UNO TO CONTINUE ITS COOPERATION WITH ARMENIAN GOVERNMENT AND PUBLIC ORGANISATIONS
Support A1+!The head of the UN Children Fund Branislav Jackich, speaking at the seminar held Tuesday in Yerevan’s “Armenia” hotel, said the two-year-long cooperation between the Fund and Armenian government had proven to be efficient. Substantial progress is visible in children care area, he said.
Mr. Jackich expressed his satisfaction with the fact that Armenian newborn babies received breast-feeding and that 84% of the country families use iodine salt. He attached a great attention to education-related issues. Social Security Minister Razmik Martirossyan and Education Minister Levon Mkrtchyan, who also were present at the seminar, completely shared his approach to the issues. “Everything must start with education”, Levon Mkrtchyan said.
A number of law provisions related to children adoption and custody have been reviewed for the years of cooperation. Along with other 51 countries Armenia has been announced a poliomyelitis-free zone.
Mr. Jackich said UNO promised to continue the cooperation with Armenian government and public organisations.
