THIRD HIGH-VOLTAGE TRANSMISSION LINE CONSTRUCTION TO START SOON

Economy

Armenian and Iranian energy ministers signed Thursday a memorandum. The sides intend to build the third high-voltage transmission line in Agarak, Armenia.

The second one, Agarak-Shinuayr, was put into operation just two days ago.

The second electric power line capacity will be 400 megawatt. It is 200 megawatt higher than previous line’s power.

Iranian energy minister says the third line will be as powerful as two previous lines together.

The 412-km-long line will be constructed within a two-year term. 312 kilometers will go through Armenia’s territory and the rest 100 through Iran’s.

Armenian energy minister says 25 billion dollars will be spent for the third line construction.

Iran’s minister says after putting into operation the third line it will become possible to put into reality the gas-for-power project worked out by both sides.
