Support A1+!“If I weren’t convinced that the Karabakh conflict will be settled, I wouldn’t take up this new job”, says Ambassador Peter Semneby, EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus. He has also mentioned that he will maintain connections with the OSCE Minsk group co-chairs for the coordination of the settlement of the conflict.
According to day.az, Mr. Semneby voiced confidence that the conflict will be settled in 2006. “Taking into account the fact that the latest meeting of the Armenian and Azeri Presidents did not justify itself, it is difficult to say if the hopes are real or not. I must visit Armenia and Azerbaijan in order to get acquainted with the situation, and I must speak to the Minsk group co-chairs”.
Peter Semneby informed that one of the directions of their activity is to support the settlement of the frozen conflicts in the region. The EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus announced that after the settlement of the conflicts EU will take up a large amount of work.
