HIDE-AND-SEEK IS NOT A PARLIAMENTARY CATEGORY
Support A1+!“The failure of the first 3-day sitting of the spring session cannot be ground enough for the dissolution of the Parliament”, said Tigran Torosyan, deputy president of the National Assembly. But this factor means something else: that parliamentarism is not present in Armenia.
“Parliamentarism will fully be realized in our country only in case the parties are fully realized, because the overwhelming majority of the members of the Parliament is represented by this or that party. Unfortunately, many lack knowledge and political culture, and even elementary relations that must be present in the Parliament.”
But Tigran Torosyan hopes that if necessary work is carried out, the Parliament will realize itself, and in that case the country will be realized too. According to him, there are people who in case of being taught something say, “I graduated from the university 30 years ago, I do not need new knowledge.”
As for the question whether the 100% proportional electoral system would contribute to the realization of the Parliament Tigran Torosyan said, “I’m telling you once again: the parties must realize themselves. An experiment can be carried out: take the lists of the parties which took part in the Parliamentary elections and find out who would be in the Parliament in case of 100% proportional electoral system.
Here we can find the answer to the question whether there are good political figures that are not present in the Parliament. I am deeply convinced that if there were such figures they would be at the beginning of the list, not at the end of it. What we see in the Parliament today is the face of the parties. I do not think that the heads of the parties would hide the good political figures for this or that reason'', said Tigran Torosyan.
