AZERBAIJAN MUST COMPENSATE

European court already adopted petition presented by “Getashen - Shahumyan” union which contains a demand for Azerbaijan to compensate the property of banished citizens and recover the proprietary rights.

RA Human Rights defender Larisa Alaverdyan stated that there is no official political estimation on Baku massacre committed against Armenians and transgression of human rights of Armenians living in Azerbaijan. Larisa Alaverdyan underlined that it is necessary to discuss the issue of compensation and recovery of proprietary rights on governmental level.

This problem was discussed during the UN “Committee on Social and Economic Issues” held in December, 2004. The UN report stated that it is necessary for Azerbaijan to give guarantee on compensation of lost property and recovery of proprietary rights of banished population.
