ARMENIA IS ANGRY WITH US STATE SECRETARY ASSISTANT
Support A1+!Members of “Artsakh” patriotic union are going to address a letter to US Ambassador to Armenia asking him to explain strange comments on Nagorno Karabakh Republic made by Elizabeth Johns, assistant to US Secretary of State. Armenian MP Hamlet Harutyunyan presented today at parliament to journalists the reason of the discontent and steps to be taken. He was speaking neither as an Armenian MP nor as a member of the Republican Party of Armenia, but as president of “Artsakh” patriotic union. It should be noted that discontent was aroused by the following statement of the State Secretary’s assistant: “Russia is interested in the sustainability of Transnestria, Abkhazia, South Ossetia and Nagorno Karabakh, and also in the dismissal of criminal separatists ruling there”. Members “Artsakh” patriotic union and Hamlet Harutyunyan in particular are convinced that Ms. Johns had confused things and distorted facts which will damage further progress of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement. Mr. Harutyunyan is sure that the assistant of US State Secretary either made the statement upon her own initiative, or that the provocation was spread by enemies of the US.
In order to justify his opinion Hamlet Harutyunyan mentions that “the US has been rendering direct assistance to Karabakh in order to improve the social situation for several years already”.
With regard to the accusation concerning the armed forces Hamlet Harutyunyan tried to clarify that no such thing exists in Karabakh. “Karabakh has already overcome that stage, and if the Republic does not surpass the post-Soviet countries with its democratic structure, its principles, level of corruption, it does not lag behind either”.
