CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENTS TO BE PUT ON NATIONAL ASSEMBLY FLOOR SOON
Support A1+!Armenian National Assembly has already received Venetian Commission’s summary of three bills on constitutional reforms.
One of these three bills is worked out by the ruling coalition, the second by United Labour Party and the third by opposition-minded MP Arshak Sadoyan.
Venetian Commissions all proposals and remarks apply to all three bills submitted for the Commission consideration.
Armenian National Assembly’s vice speaker Tigran Torossyan speaking Wednesday at a parliamentary session quoted Venetian Commission as saying the first two versions of constitutional reforms “are one step ahead of the current constitution and can help Armenia to fulfil its CE commitments”.
The third, Arshak Sadoyan’s draft constitution, doesn’t pay due attention to such issues as human rights and fundamental freedoms and contains a number of unfeasible provisions in the articles related to judicial authorities, Tigran Torossyan said referring to the Commission’s conclusion.
Parliamentary commission headed by Torossyan will mull constitutional amendments over to put them on the National Assembly floor in February.
