Today Parliament has again discussed the bill on “Fighting against terrorism financing and legalization of money earned in a criminal way”. It is to remind that Parliament rejected the bill last week. The next day Government again discussed the bill and commending it sent back to Parliament.

Central Bank Chairman Tigran Sargssyan who introduced the bill conditioned the urgency by significance of the suggested bill. According to him, some changes have been made to the bill.

One of the suggestions regarded procurement of real estate in Armenia. Law-makers have accepted this as a peculiarity of the national legislation.

Appropriate changes are suggested to Criminal and Civil Codes, so that the responsibility regimes towards the subjects that have partaken or suspected for such transactions are clear.

CB Chair informed about 2 of such cases. One is that Credit Yerevan Bank has printed false guarantee letters of $ 250 million, and the next is that alarm was raised from USA about a doubtful transaction, which was suspended in Armenia and a criminal case was instituted. Tigran Sargssyan didn’t tell other details about this.

The mechanism for compensation of the moral and financial damage was suggested and approved in the bill. Armenia, i.e, budget will bear the compensation of the damage caused for a ceased and allowed bargain.

Bill will be voted tomorrow.
