KARABAKH PRESIDENT MEETS AMERICAN ARMENIANS

Politics

Nagorno-Karabakh Republic president Arkady Ghukassyan, who is now in the U.S.A., met the U.S. Congress Armenian group co-chair Frank Palown on Wednesday and discussed ways for Karabakh conflict settlement.

The congressman expressed deep concern about the uncompromising stance taken by Azeri side on the issue and bellicose statements being made by Azerbaijani officials frequently. Palown said he remained steadfast in his determination to support Karabakh people’s right for freedom and independence.

Ghukassyan met with representatives of the Armenian community in the United States to discuss preparations for a TV marathon to be held on November 25 to raise money for Karabakh. The TV marathon is expected to attract record number of charity’s donors.

Prominent charity donor Luis Simon Manukian has already expressed her readiness to contribute to Karabakh development, particularly to North-South highway construction.

Ms. Manukian is sponsoring also a school construction in Karabakh capital city of Stepanakert.
