NATO SUPPORTS FUNDAMENTAL VALUES

NATO Secretary General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer said Friday the North Atlantic Alliance supported such fundamental values as democracy, law supremacy, human rights and freedom of speech.

He remembered Afghanistan saying the fact that people are coming up to ballot boxes is very joyful to him, as women had no right to vote under Taliban regime.

Scheffer noted the world is changing very quickly. If he spoke about Afghanistan and Iraq in Armenia a few years ago many would think he went mad, the NATO senior official said.
