NATIONS HAS COMMON GOAL OF RIDDING THE WORLD OF WEAPON OF MASS DISTRUCTION

NATO Secretary General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer said Friday in Yerevan that NATO needs new neighbors because of the organization enlargement. NATO are also seeking better relations with European Union.

Scheffer said the NATO attached special importance to improvement of cooperation with Russia and Ukraine.

He is convinced entire world should unite over struggle against weapons of mass distraction. In his opinion, neither NATO nor the United States or Russia is able to operate solo.

The NATO Secretary General put great emphasis upon NATO participation in various programs and underscored the importance of Armenia’s military presence in Kosovo.

Program of individual actions will be launched soon as part of cooperation between Armenia and NATO.
