ASHOT MANUCHARYAN SLAMS GOVERNMENT-MADE DECISION ON IRAQ
Support A1+!Ashot Manucharyan, a representative of Intellectuals Forum, speaking Friday at a meeting held by the Forum at Armenian National Sciences Academy building, criticized Armenian government’s recent decision to dispatch a group of soldiers in Iraq. “One or two individuals have declared a war to Iraq on behalf of us”, he said.
He, however, didn’t share an opinion that the decision had been made only to please Washington and wouldn’t be put into reality. “When it became known in Iraq that Armenian soldiers would come, it meant the same as if war was declared to Iraq”, Manucharyan said.
In his opinion, the decision will undermine Armenia’s position at annual Muslims’ conferences.
Manucharyan vented his anger at the ruling coalition saying its members must be prosecuted.
He voiced alarm at growing threat to Armenia saying the situation have got worth than in 1988-1993. He said the then situation posed threat only to Karabakh while now Armenia’s future is put at stake. “We can’t run such a risk of losing Armenia and Armenians”, Manucharyan said.
