On Wednesday, Iranian president Seyed Mohammad Khatami was received also by Armenian National Assembly speaker Arthur Baghdasaryan.

MPs from the opposition were present at the meeting despite they keep boycotting parliament sessions.

The leader of Ardarutyun opposition bloc Stepan Demirchyan explained the opposition lawmakers’ presence as tribute of respect for the president of this neighboring country.

Demirchyan met today with Iranian Foreign Ministry’s delegation. The opposition stance on Karabakhi conflict settlement was under discussion at the meeting. Internal political situation was discussed as well.

Among the issues the Iranian president spoke about in parliament was building of democracy. He also spoke about the institutions that should ensure democracy.
