KHATAMI, KOCHARYAN SHOW THER STANCE ON TERRORISM
Support A1+!At Wednesday’s news conference, one of Armenian journalists wanted to know president Khatami’s opinion about recent terrorist act in Beslan, North Ossetia, and asked what steps can be taken to prevent terrorist threat in the future. “Unfortunately, certain terrorists try to attach religious slant to their actions. It means they commit two crimes. Like-mindedness and global conformity in ideas are needed to combat terrorism”, he answered.
In his opinion, first of all, causes should be detected. “They can be found out on the spots where hard-line policy is being pursued and nations stricken by certain forces are left with no option but to resort to such horrible steps. Rage and brutality must be condemned along with terrorism”, Khatami said.
The Iranian president didn’t specify what exactly he meant.
Kocharyan, in turn, said: “It is known that there is some kind of people ready to sacrifice themselves for some ideas. But it is interesting whether they are ready to sacrifice their children and their families. I don’t think they are ready. If ready, they can’t be considered among humans”.
